A work of art or simply a rusty old dockside crane? You can imagine the discussions that have been raging in Zurich during recent months. Not only have the media been feasting on the many aspects of plonking an old crane from Rostock on the banks of the river Limmat, but discussions over a beer or over lunch have been quite lively too. Cost has obviously been a major topic, but it’s well known that where art is concerned money tends to take a back seat.
Whether it looks artistic, whether it enhances the views of the old town, whether it was worth the money… I doubt it. But still I rather like it. It’s not every day I get to photograph a dockside crane in a city that has no docks.
